SCIAMACHY Throughput Monitoring - Download of Spectral Results

Downloads are available for the following light paths:

• Download spectral data for the Nadir Light Path (WLS via ESM mirror)

• Download spectral data for the Nadir Light Path (Sun through subsolar port via ESM mirror, fast sweep)
• Download spectral data for the Nadir Light Path (Sun through subsolar port via ESM mirror, pointing)

• Download spectral data for the Limb Light Path (Sun via ASM & ESM mirror, nominal scan)

• Download spectral data for the Calibration Light path (Sun via ASM mirror & ESM diffuser)
  

Note that the monitoring data presented here have been reprocessed using actual (Level 1b V6.x upwards) radiometric key data.

All files are in NetCDF format (and thus more or less self-explanatory). An example IDL routine to read these data can be downloaded here.

The NetCDF files contain the complete data set for each light path, i.e. degradation as function of time and pixel number on a daily grid.
Note that the individual files are considerably large (currently about 50 MB each) and will increase in size when additional days are added.
Updates are synchronised with the update of the corresponding images.

Because of their preliminary nature you should be very careful in using these data to correct SCIAMACHY radiances or irradiances and especially consider the following remarks.

Remarks concerning Level 0 gridded monitoring data:

• Level 0 monitoring data have been generated based on unconsolidated and only partly calibrated data.
  Especially, the calibration has not been harmonised with operational 0-1b processing.
  
  
• The data for the different light paths have then been transformed to a daily grid, using interpolation and/or averaging if required.
  Interpolation over missing or bad quality data is performed both in spectral and  temporal direction.
  Decontamination periods and times of instrument switch-offs have been masked out; these periods therefore contain only interpolated data.
  This is especially important in the IR channels when only few monitoring measurements are available.
  
  
• There is no temporal or spectral smoothing performed.
  Using the monitoring data as degradation correction may therefore result in additional differential structures.
  
  
• Solar features (like Fraunhofer lines) have not been masked out, so be careful when using the monitoring factors in combination with solar activity applications.
  
  
• All data have been generated on a pixel basis without reversion of channel 2. There are no wavelengths provided.
