Several German groups are developing chemistry transport models. These are valuable tools, which can be used to account for temporal and spatial deviations between correlative measurements and to help in the interpretation of measurement results.
For the coordination and planning of measurement campaigns (in particular of balloon and aircraft campaigns) and for the interpretation of intercomparison results meteorological data (temperature and pressure profiles, wind fields etc.) are indispensable. The German contribution to the meteorological support are essentially provided by the Stratospheric Research Group at the Meteorological Institute of the Free University Berlin.
